The Espresso Trio was formed last year, bringing together 3 award-winning artists from the Royal College of Music and Guildhall School of Music and Drama. They have already worked with renowned musicians Adrian Brendel and Daniel Rowland. With a repertoire ranging from Viennese classicism to the music of today, the trio is recognised for their dynamic energy and distinctive collective voice. Thomas Masciaga plays piano, Sharon Zhou violin and Aline Christ cello.

Exuberant events are free and concerts last for one hour. Wine, soft drinks and nibbles will be available.

Thomas Masciaga comes from an Anglo-Italian family. Aged 15, he commuted from Italy to attend the Junior Department of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. Thamas was a prize winner at the 2025 Intercollegiate Sheepdrove Piano Competition and also won a Robert Turnbull Award. He has been mentored by Konstantin Bogino at Accademia Perosi in Biella and is a Talent Unlimited Artist.

Sharon Zhou is a British violinist and composer, equally at home in both classical and contemporary repertoire. She won 1st prize at the North London Music Festival, the Colonel Howes Prize at the Eastbourne Young Soloist Competition and the Silver Award at Internationale Musikfest Wien, where she held an RPS Julius Isserlis Scholarship.

Swiss cellist Aline Christ is currently pursuing a Masters degree at the RCM in London. She is an academist with the Orchestre Royal de Chambre de Wallonie, and Principal Cellist of the JP Morgan Symphony. She is passionate about contemporary music and education and is supported by several Swiss cultural foundations.

The Exuberant Trust charity supports creative young people in Oxfordshire. Our small grants are awarded for individual projects in any of the arts (not just music). Applications from people under 30 years of age who have a strong link to Oxfordshire are always welcome.
