From this sliding doors moment\, we see his Good and Bad lives move forward in parallel\, affecting Sarah\, his girlfriend\, Emmo and Lewis\, his best friends\, and his mum\, Kath. Joe’s lives come hurtling together when a sly property developer\, Mr Pressman\, threatens to tear down Joe’s community\, and his old family house with it. \nFeaturing every Madness hit from: House of Fun\, Baggy Trousers\, My Girl\, Night Boat to Cairo\, It Must Be Love\, to\, of course\, Our House\, this show is a jukebox musical unlike any other! With the authorities breathing down his neck\, his girlfriend and nightclub performer Adelaide laments that they’ve been engaged (yet unmarried!) for fourteen years. Nathan turns to fellow gambler Sky Masterson for the dough\, but Sky is already preoccupied\, chasing the straight-laced missionary Sarah Brown. \nGuys & Dolls takes us from the heart of Times Square to the cafes of Havana\, Cuba\, and even into the sewers of New York City\, but eventually everyone ends up right where they belong. \nWe are so excited to present this entirely-led student production in the glorious arcadian gardens of The Queen’s College\, featuring a cast and crew from across several different colleges at the University of Oxford. \nPlease note that this is an outdoor event\, so do bring weather-appropriate clothing. The Queen’s College is wheelchair accessible\, although it is an historic site with uneven surfaces. But why do we want tame wolves in our homes or wild cats on our laps? \nThis exhibition explores the relationship between humans and their pets – or pets and their humans. \nPets & their People draws on depictions of pets in stories\, imagery and poetry in the Bodleian’s collection – from one of the earliest recorded depictions of an assistance dog for the blind to a rare copy of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland that has never been displayed in the UK before. The exhibition asks how the special bond between owners and their pets has evolved over time\, and what that evolution tells us about who we really are. \nAre we taming our pets\, or are they bring us back to our wild roots? \nCurators\nCharles Foster\, Fellow of Exeter College and bestselling author of Being a Beast \nAcknowledgements\nPets & their People is made possible with generous support from the John S Cohen Foundation.

DESCRIPTION:Venue:\n\nThe Glass Tank\, Oxford Brookes University\n\n\n\nDate(s):\n\nMonday\, 26 January 2026 to Friday\, 6 February 2026\n\n\n\nTiming:\n\n9am – 5pm\n\n\n\nCost:\n\n0\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nInspired by the sublime beauty of techniques of visual repair across cultures\, these works invite reflection on brokenness and why it matters. \nIn recent years\, the traditional Japanese technique of repairing broken pottery using lacquer\, often embellished with gold or other precious metals\, known as ‘kintsugi’ has fascinated and inspired not only contemporary artists\, but also pscyhologists\, philosophers\, scientists and archaeologists. But the idea of caring for something that is broken and finding beauty in its imperfection resonates much more widely. Whether we are living with the painful yet precious memories of loss\, or trying to reassemble places of belonging from the remnants of abandoned buildings\, brokenness and repair speak to our fundamental ways of being in the world. \nThrough sculpture\, sound\, images\, and pottery\, this exhibition creates a space of dialogue between Japanese aesthetics of brokenness and repair and those of other cultures. Nathan turns to fellow gambler Sky Masterson for the dough\, but Sky is already preoccupied\, chasing the straight-laced missionary Sarah Brown. \nGuys & Dolls takes us from the heart of Times Square to the cafes of Havana\, Cuba\, and even into the sewers of New York City\, but eventually everyone ends up right where they belong. \nWe are so excited to present this entirely-led student production in the glorious arcadian gardens of The Queen’s College\, featuring a cast and crew from across several different colleges at the University of Oxford. \nPlease note that this is an outdoor event\, so do bring weather-appropriate clothing. But why do we want tame wolves in our homes or wild cats on our laps? \nThis exhibition explores the relationship between humans and their pets – or pets and their humans. \nPets & their People draws on depictions of pets in stories\, imagery and poetry in the Bodleian’s collection – from one of the earliest recorded depictions of an assistance dog for the blind to a rare copy of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland that has never been displayed in the UK before. The exhibition asks how the special bond between owners and their pets has evolved over time\, and what that evolution tells us about who we really are. \nAre we taming our pets\, or are they bring us back to our wild roots? \nCurators\nCharles Foster\, Fellow of Exeter College and bestselling author of Being a Beast \nAcknowledgements\nPets & their People is made possible with generous support from the John S Cohen Foundation.

DESCRIPTION:Venue:\n\nThe Glass Tank\, Oxford Brookes University\n\n\n\nDate(s):\n\nMonday\, 26 January 2026 to Friday\, 6 February 2026\n\n\n\nTiming:\n\n9am – 5pm\n\n\n\nCost:\n\n0\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nInspired by the sublime beauty of techniques of visual repair across cultures\, these works invite reflection on brokenness and why it matters. \nIn recent years\, the traditional Japanese technique of repairing broken pottery using lacquer\, often embellished with gold or other precious metals\, known as ‘kintsugi’ has fascinated and inspired not only contemporary artists\, but also pscyhologists\, philosophers\, scientists and archaeologists. But the idea of caring for something that is broken and finding beauty in its imperfection resonates much more widely. Whether we are living with the painful yet precious memories of loss\, or trying to reassemble places of belonging from the remnants of abandoned buildings\, brokenness and repair speak to our fundamental ways of being in the world. \nThrough sculpture\, sound\, images\, and pottery\, this exhibition creates a space of dialogue between Japanese aesthetics of brokenness and repair and those of other cultures. This event will take the form of a led walk\, stopping to look for different animals as we move around the various habitats on the reserve. \nThis event is suitable for families with children aged 8 plus. With the authorities breathing down his neck\, his girlfriend and nightclub performer Adelaide laments that they’ve been engaged (yet unmarried!) for fourteen years. Nathan turns to fellow gambler Sky Masterson for the dough\, but Sky is already preoccupied\, chasing the straight-laced missionary Sarah Brown. \nGuys & Dolls takes us from the heart of Times Square to the cafes of Havana\, Cuba\, and even into the sewers of New York City\, but eventually everyone ends up right where they belong. \nWe are so excited to present this entirely-led student production in the glorious arcadian gardens of The Queen’s College\, featuring a cast and crew from across several different colleges at the University of Oxford. \nPlease note that this is an outdoor event\, so do bring weather-appropriate clothing. But why do we want tame wolves in our homes or wild cats on our laps? \nThis exhibition explores the relationship between humans and their pets – or pets and their humans. \nPets & their People draws on depictions of pets in stories\, imagery and poetry in the Bodleian’s collection – from one of the earliest recorded depictions of an assistance dog for the blind to a rare copy of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland that has never been displayed in the UK before. DESCRIPTION:Venue:\n\nThe Glass Tank\, Oxford Brookes University\n\n\n\nDate(s):\n\nMonday\, 26 January 2026 to Friday\, 6 February 2026\n\n\n\nTiming:\n\n9am – 5pm\n\n\n\nCost:\n\n0\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nInspired by the sublime beauty of techniques of visual repair across cultures\, these works invite reflection on brokenness and why it matters. \nIn recent years\, the traditional Japanese technique of repairing broken pottery using lacquer\, often embellished with gold or other precious metals\, known as ‘kintsugi’ has fascinated and inspired not only contemporary artists\, but also pscyhologists\, philosophers\, scientists and archaeologists. But the idea of caring for something that is broken and finding beauty in its imperfection resonates much more widely. Whether we are living with the painful yet precious memories of loss\, or trying to reassemble places of belonging from the remnants of abandoned buildings\, brokenness and repair speak to our fundamental ways of being in the world. \nThrough sculpture\, sound\, images\, and pottery\, this exhibition creates a space of dialogue between Japanese aesthetics of brokenness and repair and those of other cultures. DESCRIPTION:Experience the incredible sight and sound as the engines of these two iconic aircraft are fired up. \n\n\n\n\nWhere else can you witness engines running on two such incredible aircraft which reflect such an important period of aviation history – at just one venue? Its something you won’t forget. There’s also the opportunity to meet and chat to some of the crew who served on the Shackleton\, their personal stories will leave you with some truly lasting memories. \nBut there’s lots more to see and do. The Museum hangar is home to a wider collection of airframes including the Jaguar\, Harrier\, Meteor\, Hunter and Devon. The Gatwick history exhibition traces the interesting story behind the airport and the airlines which have operated there – will you recognise some of the uniforms and memorabilia? \nThe Typhoon Motion Simuator will be operational all day so why not jump aboard for an exhilerating ride. \nClimb insde the Robinson R22 helicopter\, Islander cockpit and Canberra nose section. \nAnd when you need to re-charge\, there’s the Galley Coffee Shop with seating inside and out\, plus some delicious food available from our wonderful catering vendors. If the sun is shining then don’t forget we have acres of space to bring a picnic.
