If you want to talk to the poets\, most of us are friendly! \nThe March tour will be inside the Mediterranean World Gallery on the first floor. This gallery features a large map with the important cities and sites of Mediterranean history\, and wall cases with glassware\, Venetian pottery\, Byzantine jewellery\, painted wooden icons\, pilgrimage and personal objects.

Bags and coats can be stored within the Print Room during this visit. \n\nStudy day to mark the 150th anniversary of the birth of artist and printmaker Muirhead Bone. \nJoin us to celebrate the work of landscape etcher Sir Muirhead Bone. Born in 1876\, Bone was Britain’s first official war artist and produced more views for the Oxford Almanack than any other artist. \nThis special study day\, led by Harry Dickinson\, will explore Bone’s early years in Glasgow\, his pre-First World War urban landscapes and war work\, his travels in Spain and his close association with Oxford. \nYou will have the opportunity to see a wide range of his prints and drawings first-hand\, including works from a private collection. \n\n \nThe Ashmolean and Balliol College from Beaumont Street\, Sir Muirhead Bone\, 1939\, black chalk\, with some graphite indications \n\n\nBOOKING \nTickets are FREE for this in-person event. There is a maximum capacity of 15 attendees for this event. SUMMARY:PAT SUET-BIK HUI & THE THREE PERFECTIONS
DESCRIPTION:FREE EXHIBITION\n\n\n\n20 Sep 2025 to 28 Jun 2026 \nGallery 11 \nAdmission is FREE \n\nPat Suet-Bik Hui 許雪碧 (b. 1943) is a US-based Hong Kong artist. This exhibition showcases her work alongside others who engage with the tradition of the ‘three perfections’ 三絕\, which brings together the three art forms of poetry\, calligraphy\, and painting. \nThe exhibition includes works by Hui\, her contemporaries\, her teacher Lui Shou-Kwan and others of his generation\, as well as earlier examples from the 17th\, 18th\, and 19th centuries. Seeing Hui alongside these other artists will give visitors the context to understand her as both innovator and standard-bearer of tradition. \nIn this tradition\, calligraphic brushstrokes are as integral to compositional balance as those used in painting.
