SUMMARY:Camera Club: Glow
DESCRIPTION:Camera Club is part of The North Wall’s YouthLab programme\, which supports young people aged 12-17 in developing their creative skills alongside professional artists. Every year a group of 6-8 aspiring photographers works with artist Elina Medley to create images using digital SLR cameras and then to curate an exhibition of photography. \nLast summer they worked in the studio as well as the streets and parks of Oxford to experiment with different subject matter and approaches to image-making. Over four days they built on their technical and creative skills and discovered the subjects they love to photograph. \nDuring the October half term\, they immersed themselves in several exhibitions of photography and learnt so much about how to curate their own exhibition. In February the group spent a day at Magdalen Road Studios curating their exhibition and writing the supporting materials. \nCome along and meet our latest cohort of wonderful photographers; they will be staffing the gallery during the show. \nThis exhibition takes place at Magdalen Road Studios \n\nExhibition Opening\nSaturday 28 March 3-4pm\nPlease join us for light refreshments and a chance to meet the young artists.\nFree event / no booking required \n \n\n\n\n\nCamera Club: Glow\nTicketsFree entry

SUMMARY:Macbeth
DESCRIPTION:Flabbergast Theatre’s Macbeth fuses puppetry\, clowning\, physical theatre\, and exhilarating live music to bring of Shakespeare’s blood-soaked tragedy to life in this powerful and provocative interpretation. \nWith a stripped back set\, an aesthetically arresting design\, and a tight-knit ensemble of actors\, this production is a dark and visceral manifestation of the work’s essence and underlying themes\, drawing out the play’s parallels with modern society. \nFlabbergast’s Macbeth is for everyone\, a visceral and eloquent retelling of Shakespeare’s imbrued tale of vicissitude. \nAge guidance: 11+ \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPhoto credit: Michael Lynch \n\n\n\n\nReviews\n\n“As captivating as it is unsettling.” \n    The Telegraph\n\n“An exciting and vital interpretation of Macbeth which serves to invigorate one of Shakespeare’s best-known plays with a new intensity.” \n     British Theatre Guide\n\n“Refreshing and visually beautiful” \n    Voice Mag\n\nPick of the Fringe 2023 \n     Mervyn Stutter

SUMMARY:St Edward’s School Art Teachers: Circa 500
DESCRIPTION:Circa 500 is composed of eleven artists who spend their days teaching\, questioning\, and building alongside the next generation of artists at St Edward’s School. This exhibition turns that practice inward\, revealing the breadth of disciplines that animate their department: ceramics\, sculpture\, textiles\, painting\, print\, photography\, graphics\, and film. What connects them is not a single medium but a shared curiosity. Clay and thread\, paint and colour\, lens and screen\, ink and object each hold their own language. Together they create a conversation about process\, experiment\, and the shifting roles they inhabit as educators and artists. The works on display emerge from the overlap of classroom and studio\, from the restless space between guiding others and pursuing individual investigations. They are presented not as finished answers but as open propositions\, fragments of dialogue\, and invitations to look closer. \n\nExhibition Opening\nThursday 12 March 5-7pm\nPlease join us for drinks to celebrate the opening of this exhibition\nFree event / no booking required \n\nSt Edward’s School Art Teachers: Circa 500\nTicketsFree entry \nExtra information \nOpening hours: Mon – Sat 10am – 4pm\nClosed: Sun and Bank Holidays \n\nAddress: Woodstock Rd\, Oxford OX2 7NN

SUMMARY:Box Tale Soup 1984
DESCRIPTION:Award winning Box Tale Soup present a stunning new adaptation of Orwell’s dystopian classic\, 1984. Known for their ingenious sets and slick storytelling\, Box Tale Soup’s unique puppetry becomes a striking metaphor for Orwell’s chilling vision of power and control. \nThe year is 1984\, perhaps – it is impossible to tell for certain. We are being watched\, Big Brother is everywhere\, truth changes daily\, and everyone conforms. But for Winston Smith\, insignificant cog in the Party’s vast machine\, this half-life is not enough. He dreams of freedom\, but is he the only one? Dreams can be deadly when rebellion begins with a thought. \nFeaturing the voices of Sophie Aldred & Joanna Lumley\, with Simon Russell Beale as the voice of Big Brother. \nAge guidance: 12+ \n\n\n\n\nReviews\n\n“A vital watch.” \n    The List\n\n“This thought-provoking\, striking production is as relevant today as when it was first written.” \n     British Theatre Guide
