SUMMARY:Kala Arpan Samarpana 2026
DESCRIPTION:Kala Arpan presents Shiva Shakti\, a curated Bharatanatyam repertoire celebrating the divine masculine and feminine principles that shape existence. SUMMARY:The Drawing Project
DESCRIPTION:The Drawing Project is a collaborative work involving sixteen artists and two paintings from the Ashmolean Museum: The Forest Fire by Piero di Cosimo and The Exposition of Moses by Nicholas Poussin. The aim was to produce drawings that worked collectively as well as individually. \nThe artists produced drawings which were then assembled to become full-scale representations of the original paintings. The four assembled collaborative representations are made of fifteen individually drawn sections. Each artist produced their drawings to scale using a variety of drawing and painting media\, with some also working in collage. \nDuring eight months\, over sixty individual project drawings were produced and then assembled into four large drawings representing the original paintings. The finished assembled works are 1:1 representations of the original paintings; two in colour and two in black and white. Some of the artists have also produced additional work referencing the original paintings. \nAt the Ashmolean Museum\, there’s a wonderful opportunity for both families and adults to attend a workshop inspired by the exhibition. Please see below for the dates. \n\nExhibition Opening\nThursday 12 February 6-8pm\nPlease join us for drinks to celebrate the opening of this exhibition\nFree event / no booking required \nMeet the Artists\nMonday 16 February 2-3.30pm & Saturday 28 February 2-3.30pm\nJoin the artists for a tea\, talk and an informal tour of the exhibition\nFree event / Book Tickets \nDrawing workshops at The Ashmolean\nFamily workshop: Thursday 19 February 2-4pm\n£17 for 1 adult & 2 children / Book Tickets \nAdult workshop: Wednesday 4 March 11am – 3pm\n£27 per person / Book Tickets

SUMMARY:Harry Baker: Tender
DESCRIPTION:As in ripe for the taking. \nAs in a heart swelled to twice its size. \nAs in soft. As in delicious. As in ready. \nWorld Poetry Slam Champion Harry Baker brings his characteristic warmth\, wit and wonder to new parenthood. From introducing his baby to a horse for the first time\, to trying to work out if the GP really did drop them on purpose to test their reflexes\, Tender contains poems from the first hundred days of new life and celebrates all of the euphoria\, panic and vulnerability that come with it. Following on from the last two years’ 40-date sellout runs of Wonderful and Wonderful 2.0\, he’ll even slip in some non-baby bangers too. Expect more laughter and tears than ever. \n\n\n\n\nReviews\n\n“Harry Baker’s intricate\, quick-fire rhymes have always been on the impressive side of mind-blowing” \nThe Scotsman\n\n“Spectacularly witty” \n     WhatsOnStage\n\n“The Spell Over The Audience Is Tangible” \n     Broadway Baby

SUMMARY:Peter Rhoades & Emma Baldwin: Hand to Eye
DESCRIPTION:Peter Rhoades & Emma Baldwin: Hand to Eye\nPeter Rhoades’s works in this exhibition date from the 1970s and 80s\, a time of both personal and historical change and tension. Only a few of these paintings and drawings have been shown before. Peter returned to making images direct from visual observation\, having spent the 1960s primarily involved with various kinds of abstraction. In doing so he was reviving his Ruskinian roots initially nurtured by his father and Percy Horton at the Ruskin School of Art. The drawings and a few of the paintings also represent his ongoing concern with European figure composition.Peter is an artist and teacher/lecturer working in painting\, drawing and printmaking. Much of his teaching career has been at Oxford University as both a tutor at the Ruskin School of Art and Christ Church College. Peter was also a lecturer at Abingdon & Witney College\, working for many years on the prestigious Foundation Visual Arts course with his co-exhibitor Emma Baldwin. \nEmma Baldwin is a potter who\, after thirty years at Abingdon and Witney College\, is making wheel-thrown vessels full-time. Emma enjoys making both functional and sculptural forms inspired by both contemporary and historical sources. She is primarily drawn to ceramics as an object; fascinated by the line between what makes something functional or a work of art. Emma finds the entire process of transforming earth into an object of beauty completely engrossing. \nEmma was first introduced to clay at school aged 14 and has been working with it on and off ever since. Emma studied ceramics at Bristol Polytechnic in 1992\, where she had the privilege to be taught by both Walter Keeler and Mo Jupp – two truly inspiring potters. \n\nExhibition Opening\nThursday 22 January 6-8pm\nPlease join us for drinks to celebrate the opening of this exhibition\nFree event / no booking required \nMeet the Artists\nThursday 5 February 6-7.30pm\nJoin the artists for drinks from 6pm and an informal tour of the exhibition from 6.15pm.\nFree event / Book tickets \n\n\n\n\nPeter Rhoades & Emma Baldwin: Hand to Eye\nTicketsFree entry \nExtra information \nOpening hours: Mon – Sat 10am – 4pm\nClosed: Sun and Bank Holidays
