SUMMARY:Fairytales for Grown-ups: A Dance with the Minotaur's Sister
DESCRIPTION:The Crick Crack Club presents Fairytales for Grown-ups: A Dance with the Minotaur’s Sister – performance storytelling by Steph Brittain. \n\nA King breaks a promise.\nA Queen takes passion in hand.\nA Prince becomes a feared prisoner.\nAnd Ariadne dances. \nStoryteller\, Steph Brittain unravels a web of love\, loss\, betrayal\, and bees – tracing the footsteps of Ariadne to a place before the maze and before the thread. \nFrom a forest dance floor to the labyrinth’s dark passages\, and beneath the starry skies of Naxos\, A Dance with the Minotaur’s Sister weaves an intricate tapestry of strength\, courage\, and desire – a story as old as myth\, told with the living pulse of now. \nTipping ancient Greek mythology into a new perspective\, this is a story of a bull\, a boy\, his sister\, a labyrinth and what happens when the hero leaves. \nAriadne is waiting – pulsing with joy and fire. Join the dance. \nRunning time: Approx 70 minutes without interval \nSuitable for adults 16+ \nContent: This performance contains references to sex\, threat and violence\, contextualised within a paradigm of mythic narrative\, archetype and metaphor \nFor livestream tickets to this event\, click here. \nSTEPH BRITTAIN: Steph Brittain’s love for storytelling developed whilst studying Kathak dance in Paris and Delhi and continued to grow during her MA in Drama and Movement therapy. Steph trained in performance in France and at the Drama Centre London\, and in storytelling with Ben Haggarty\, Jo Blake\, Nick Hennesey and Nell Phoenix. She is a member of storytelling ensemble Pandvani 108\, is a performer in the Crick Crack Club’s Stories in the Dark and Beholders Share projects\, and she can sing!

SUMMARY:Snow White Rose Red Brown Bear
DESCRIPTION:A new show from the Woods of Widdershins\, with puppets\, storytelling\, original music and a fantastical fairytale forest. Perfect for ages 4 to 10. \n\nSnow White and Rose Red – sisters\, twins\, best friends – have lived in the forest since they were Babes in the Wood. Brought up by their hardworking mother to be kind\, caring and forest fluent… if sometimes a little over enthusiastic in their deeds! When their quiet life is interrupted by a friendly bear a new chapter begins. But why has the bear chosen them as playfellows? Why is there sadness in his eyes? And who on earth is that rude little man with a ridiculously long beard that they keep bumping into? \nAll questions will be untangled in this new show from the Woods of Widdershins\, using puppets\, storytelling\, original music and a fantastical fairytale forest. \nChildren must be accompanied and adults require their own tickets. \nFor ages 4 to 10 \n“This quietly dazzling show reminds us of the elemental power of storytelling – how it can coax out wonder\, empathy\, and joy with the simplest of tools: a puppet\, a voice\, and a forest made of dreams” (Cor Blimey *****)
