DESCRIPTION:Overview\n\n\n\nJoin the Katona Twins for an evening of virtuoso Spanish music in Oxford. \n\n\n\n\nGeneral admission at 7PM. There will be a 15 minute interval. \nKATONA TWINS ‘ALHAMBRA INSPIRATIONS’ – Virtuoso Spanish music for two guitars \nThe Alhambra Palace was built in the Middle Ages\, in the city of Granada. With its impressive mosaics and sun-drenched gardens\, it inspired the creation of many wonderful compositions throughout the centuries. Several of those masterpieces feature in this unique programme. \nBIO\nIdentical Twins Peter and Zoltan Katona have given recitals in major concert venues throughout the world including performances at Carnegie Hall in New-York\, Wigmore Hall in London\, The Concertgebouw in Amsterdam\, The Konzerthaus in Vienna and the Suntory Hall in Tokyo. They effortlessly transfer from strictly classical\, into more popular musical genres and played together with renowned musicians such as Yo-Yo Ma and world class ensembles such as the BBC Concert Orchestra. As the classical soloists of the “Night of the Proms” concerts they performed live to half a million people in arenas across Europe. They have won over ten international prizes at major competitions among others in New York and in London. They have released 11 CDs and their recordings featured in the US blockbuster TV series ‘Fargo’ and in a Broadway show with Hollywood star Hugh Jackman. They have been invited to perform for major international TV and radio stations such as the BBC\, RTÉ (The Late Late Show) and many others. \nInternational Press Quotes: \n“The intense ensemble between the Katonas is irresistible\,”\nThe Times\, London \n“Virtuosos who play with an almost eerie unanimity of style and considerable charm.”\nNew Yorker \n\nLocation\n\n\n\nHolywell Music Room\n\nHolywell Street \nOxford OX1 3SB

SUMMARY:If Music Be the Food of Love …
DESCRIPTION:If Music Be the Food of Love …\n\nWhen: 22 Feb 2026 at 6.30 pm \nWhere: Holywell Music Room – Holywell St\, Oxford OX1 3SB \nTicket Price – £18\, £8 students / under 25 \n\n  \n  \n\nOxford Pro Musica Singers\nMark Jordan (conductor)\nIf music be the food of love …\nA feast of choral music celebrating food and drink \nThe intimate auditorium of the Holywell Music Room is the venue for a banquet of music on the theme of food and drink\, cordially hosted and performed by Oxford Pro Musica Singers. \nVariety being the spice of a concert programme\, ours will range from reverent celebrations of the eucharistic feast\, with contrasting settings of O Sacrum Convivium by Tallis\, Messiaen and Jackson as well as some majestic Lassus\, Palestrina and Poulenc\, to some rather cheekier numbers such as a rambunctious drinking song by Mendelssohn and the perky but tender Tea for Two. The centrepiece of the programme will be Bob Chilcott’s rarely heard song cycle Fragments from his Dish\, six settings of an eclectic mix of texts beginning with a grace by Robert Herrick\, going on to devour excerpts of Piers Plowman\, Pepys’s diary and an eighteenth-century newspaper account of a record pie and ending with a bang inspired by G.K. Chesterton at his most rollicking. \nWe hope our musical feast will have a course to suit everyone\, and that this evening of conviviality Oxford-Pro-Musica-style will cheer your February and leave you feeling fully satisfied.
