SUMMARY:Once Upon a Time in Sokoto
DESCRIPTION:Fuel in association with Touring Together presents the award-winning play by Inua Ellams \nDirected by Roy Alexander Weise \nThere are powers that bind the world together\, softer than spirits yet stronger than stone\, that tie the river to the tree\, the tree to rain clouds\, rain clouds to the land\, and people to each other. \nThe award-winning Once Upon a Time in Sokoto tells the epic story of a beautiful but unlikely friendship forged between an enslaved woman and her former master. Differences in faith\, culture and heritage are overcome in the face of new enemies\, in a gripping family drama set against the backdrop of events leading to the creation of Nigeria. \nWinner of the 2024 Alfred Fagon Award for Once Upon a Time in Sokoto\, Nigeria-born Inua Ellams is an internationally celebrated poet\, playwright\, and artist. He has published four poetry collections and his plays include the hugely popular and critically acclaimed Barber Shop Chronicles (Fuel/National Theatre\, UK and International tour) and the award-winning The 14th Tale (Fuel/UK tour) and his retelling of Three Sisters (National Theatre). \nOnce Upon a Time in Sokoto is presented in association with Touring Together—a new national programme\, bringing bold stories which shine a fresh light on the world we live in today\, to audiences across the country. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAdeola Yemitan\nNafisa Sarauniya\n\n\n\n\n\nAntonia Layiwola\nZinari Zangina\n\n\n\n\n\nBayo Gbadamosi\nHadiru Zhango\n\n\n\n\n\nWill Atiomo\nYusef Dawdu\n\n\n\n\n\n \nDiscover more about the story:\n\n \n\n\n\nPlay \n\n00:00\n\n-01:46\nMute\nSettings\nEnter fullscreen\n \n\n\nPlay\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nPlay \n\n00:00\n\n-01:38\nMute\nSettings\nEnter fullscreen\n \n\n\nPlay 25 Members Pre-Show Event\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\n\n \n\nFor Schools\n\n\nDownload an information pack\n14.4 MB PDF\n\nDownload the teachers resource pack\n1.2 MB DOCX\n\n\n\n\n\nDates & Times\n\n\n\nTue 13 Oct\n7:30pm \nFriends50%\nBuy Tickets\n\n\n\nWed 14 Oct\n7:30pm \n\nLimited Availability\n\n\n\nThu 15 Oct\n7:30pm \n\nBSL Performance \n\nBuy Tickets\n\n\n\nFri 16 Oct\n7:30pm \n14 – 25s£5\nLimited Availability\n\n\n\nSat 17 Oct\n2:30pm \n\nAudio Described\, Touch Tour \n\nBuy Tickets\n\n\n\nSat 17 Oct\n7:30pm \n\nBuy Tickets
