A Parisian restaurant serving up haute-cuisine without the pretention.
Septime may regularly rank as one of the world’s best restaurants, but it carries with it none of the stuffiness of its counterparts. Housed in an unmarked street-level building in the 11th Arrondissement, and furnished with wooden chairs and tables, the restaurant has made a name for itself on the back of an unpretentious menu featuring sustainably-sourced ingredients in unusual combinations.
Graphic designer-turned-chef Bertrand Grébaut is part of a younger cohort of cooks keen to throw off the shackles that sometimes constrain traditional French cuisine: Lobster with wild strawberries and poached egg in hay broth have both featured on the (frequently changing) menu.

a month agoBlackwell’s is a treasure in Oxford. The shop looks small from the outside but opens up into a huge space, especially the Norrington Room, truly impressive. Great selection of books, helpful staff, and a peaceful place to browse. Don’t miss it if you’re in town!

a week agoVery very big. 100/100 for variety. Never seen such a big book store. Staff were friendly. They even have a nice location. There is no book that you couldn’t find here.

2 months agoMuch larger than you might expect from the outside. Excellent selection of books, especially in the Norrington room. We checked out the entire rest of the bookshop before going downstairs, and we're taken aback at how much we would've missed if we hadn't. Also has a very unique selection of antique and rare books to browse through on the second floor, from first editions to copies of scarce books. Staff are friendly and the atmosphere inside is cozy, especially down in the Norrington room. Useful to have the Cafe Nero upstairs as well. Toilet facilities were a bit busy. Sci fi selection is across the street, in a separate building.
